Sunburn is an electronic dance music (EDM) festival held across various locations throughout the world with the biggest event taking place just after the Christmas celebrations and just before the New Year in Goa, India every year. The festival, which is a combination of music, food, shopping and entertainment is spread over three days and organized by Percept, an entertainment, media and communications company in India.

Sunburn brings together renowned Indian and international DJs to entertain the crowds, who come in the thousands each year. With a variety of experiences to choose from, Sunburn caters to a wide audience and highlights India as a festival destination.

Sunburn has grown to set a new standard for “Big Arena” format festivals with renowned international DJs and massive stage productions attracting crowds of up to 150,000 festival goers.

The inaugural Sunburn festival was held in 2007 to a crowd of around 10,000. The attendance doubled year on year for the next three years as the festival grew in popularity. After conquering the EDM scene for over five years in the southern state of Goa, Sunburn moved to the city, playing to massive crowds in Mumbai and Delhi in 2012. Also in 2012, Sunburn took its show internationally, first to the beautiful beaches of Colombo, Sri Lanka and the following year to Dubai. Determined to conquer the world, the organizers are planning events in Bali, Singapore, Jakarta and Mexico in the coming years.

The success of Sunburn has allowed the brand to expand into the lifestyle space with merchandise already available. Further brand extensions include Sunburn Cafes, Sunburn Club Lounges, Sunburn Talent, Music Record and Video Labels, Sunburn Records, Sunburn Radio, and a Sunburn Television property.

The line-up of artists is hand-picked and showcases some of the most renowned DJs from around the globe alongside local Indian talent. Sunburn hosts a variety of electronic genres from Trance, House, Electro, Techno, Drum & Bass, Psy-trance and many more. Due to the huge popularity of the event, some of the biggest names in dance music have performed at Sunburn including Swedish House Mafia, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell, Afrojack, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Paul Van Dyk, Avicii, Skazi, Infected Mushroom, Pete Tong, Dash Berlin, Markus Schulz, Mark Knight and James Zabiela.

There is a wide range of accommodation in and around the Goa festival with a variety of options in price from budget home-stays to luxury hotels. One of the more popular options is to camp at the festival camp site.

International tourists like to stay near Goa beaches. Banana boating is quite popular along with other water sports, such as wind surfing, jet skiing, water skiing, para sailing and scuba diving.

Though enforcement of laws and noise curfews have changed the party dynamic on Goa, this shouldn't change your ability to enjoy some amazing beats in a chilled out beach setting. The festival has a zero tolerance policy for any drug usage and even warns on its website that undercover police officers with sniffer dogs will be roaming the festival. This is something they take seriously and you should too.
